How to Quit Your 9-to-5 Job?

How to Quit Your 9 to 5 Job

Step 1: Define Your Goals and Skills

The first step in quitting your 9-5 job is to identify your goals and skills. Ask yourself, “What do I want to achieve by quitting my job?” Do you want to start your own business, change careers, or travel the world?

Once you have a clear idea of your goals, evaluate your skills and experience. What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? This will help you identify potential career paths that align with your goals and strengths.

Step.2: Don’t Quit Your Main Job Yet.

That’s right, to quit your 9 to 5 job you need to keep that job first until you make enough money with a side hustle to cover your expenses (we will talk about that in the next step).

Let’s say you are making $70,000 per year which honestly is a lot of money most people don’t make $70,000 per year but this gonna help proves my point here. so you are making $70,000  per year and you spend say 60 or 70 thousand per year (your expenses).

It’s gonna be so much more difficult to quit your job when you are making a lot of money and spending a lot of money too because what this means is if you quit your job tomorrow you still have expenses that you have to pay.

The first step here is to really do a big audit on your finances, I mean you need to know how to save and budget your money so you can reduce expenses while starting a side business.

So that’s the first step to creating a budget, find how much it is costing you to live and lower that cost as much as possible.

Step.3: Start a Side Business.

Starting a side business is essentially becoming your own boss, and this is a great way to quit your job.

Starting your own business means you offer a service and then you charge money for that service. Now that’s the very basics of it but when you go into this a little bit deeper there are so many possibilities that you can explore. What’s great about this is you are your own boss so you do not have to report to someone, you can decide what you can wear, you can decide what time you are going to wake up, etc.

You can likely do that if you are running your own business, It obviously depends on what type of business you are running, but how do you find the right type of business?

There are a lot of ways to make money online or from home, just check out the blog posts listed above and I am pretty sure you will find the perfect part-time job for you. But the key here when you are starting a side business is to not right away quit your job and start the business on day one after quitting your job, that’s probably not the best idea.

So what I suggest doing is starting a side business while working and keeping your main job, just find a way to do this simultaneously while working on this job.

Step.4: Take Action.

Last but not definitely least, Take action. This is equally as important as the past steps.

So many people when to say you know what I am gonna start up a business, I am gonna do this and It is gonna happen, and I am gonna quit my job really soon. Then 5 or 10 years go by and they still working on their regular job and they are not satisfied. so if you don’t enjoy your job at the moment and you do not see yourself enjoying your job in the future then set some very time-specific goals as to when you want to achieve what it is that you wanna do.

Set those time-specific goals, and write them down. It doesn’t matter if you put them on your wall or write them down where you can see them every single day. It’s so important to set your goals down because that is how you can actually achieve them and hold yourself accountable for them.

The bottom line

Quitting a 9-5 job can be a daunting task, but with the right mindset and plan, it can be achieved in as little as six months. By following the three easy steps outlined in this article, you can take control of your career and start living the life you want.

Remember, quitting your job is not a decision to be taken lightly, and it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. However, with these three steps, you can pave the way for a successful and fulfilling career change. So, start today, and take the first step towards a happier and more fulfilling future.
